Letter: Disabled veterans are being fleeced once again

Posted

I have advocated for a legislation change to R.I. Gen. Law 44-33-3 that is presently discriminating against Disabled Veterans, as they are excluded from taking the Property Tax Relief Credit which this law provides.

On Thursday, May 8, 2021, House Bill 5690 came before the House Finance Committee, and for the eighth year in a row, this bill was “Held over for further study” — in other words, “flushed.” My frustration is, why? And why are they not responding to my quest to find out why?

Why does the House of Representatives continue to disregard this issue and cannot get these bills out of committee?

Rep Steven Casey, representing Woonsocket, introduced this bill, and again it was flushed.

Nobody seems to care that this present law is discriminating against disabled veterans. Once again disabled veterans are being fleeced by the government.
