Letter: Domestic violence is an epidemic

This is in response to the recent stabbing. Two women were attacked in our town. The alleged assailant lived with them and has multiple charges of domestic violence to his name. The article stated that this man "is a familiar face for local law enforcement." Domestic violence towards women is an epidemic in this country, and few of these so-called men are ever held accountable. The Chief of Police credits first responders for their quick action, which they absolutely deserve. But what is being done to prevent this in the first place? What are we doing to protect the women in our town? When do women get to feel just as safe at home or walking down the street as men do?
