To the editor:
In response to the letter to the editor of Jan 23, 2025, in which the republican author mentioned having been the victim of name calling and offensive labeling over this past year, I would like to say that I’m sorry for the intolerance shown to him by his fellow Bristolians, and I commend the writer for encouraging active listening and constructive dialogue to find common ground between families, friends, and neighbors who might have differing opinions. Whilst cruel and hateful name calling is certainly a free speech right, a mindful exploration of thoughts and concerns is a more productive use of speech. Thank you.
