I am perplexed by the amount of money the past and current town council has handed to the YMCA in town.

The Y, as we old timers refer to it, has been around for years, and is a private not-for-profit organization. I don' t remember being invited with my children on a hot summer day to take a swim in their outdoor pool. One had to be a member to use that pool, along with a number of other programs offered.

It is too bad that our town manager, previous town councils and the new council are not familiar with many non-profit organizations, some mentioned in your editorial this week, that have been around town for years. A number of sports groups could used some help. A number of our high school sports teams have to raise money that is not awarded to them in the budget.
