Letter: Looking for leaders, and candidates for office

Posted

To the editor:

While the past two years have been challenging in many ways, they have also highlighted the importance of community and the power of coming together to support one another and get through life’s challenges. As Mr. Rogers, the quintessential neighbor, reminded us: “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Indeed, the helpers have been all around us during this period of uncertainty and rapid change. Our community did not shy away from the enormity of the challenges related to COVID-19. People reached out to one another for help or with help, and the result was a prime example of what we can achieve collectively. Leaders were uncovered or discovered, stepping up and organizing responses to the varying needs, helping to ensure the resilience of our town.

The Bristol Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) wants to encourage our neighbors to continue this investment in our community by considering a run for public office, whether Town Administrator, Town Clerk, Town Council, School Committee, or Town Committee. We want to meet you and hear your ideas for helping our beautiful town continue to thrive; and we want to be a resource for you if you have questions about the process of running for office and how the BDTC can support our endorsed candidates.

To schedule an informal chat with one of our Nominating Committee members, please send us an email at bristolridems@gmail.com. We can’t wait to get to know you.
