Letter: Push state to allow Independence Park concerts

Posted

I read in the Bristol Phoenix that this season’s music concerts, in celebration of the Fourth of July, are moved to Roger Williams University. The article said the committee’s request for Independence Park was denied by the state because of Covid19 protocols.

That does not make sense to me, because the local TV news stated that the Charlestown Seafood Festival, which has attendance in tens of thousands, is happening this year. I think the committee should reconsider and push the state to allow music concerts at Independence Park. It’s a more beautiful location and allows locals to walk and people to support local businesses much easier.
