To the editor:

It would be sad to allow this holiday season to pass without expressing gratitude to the many who have made Little Compton a wonderful town.

Thanks to our police and firefighters, for example, for their skills, knowledge and caring; for keeping our town safe; for responding to emergencies with dispatch and competence.

As a beneficiary of their services, I know their help to be rare and praiseworthy.

Plaudits to Little Compton's Community Center, which has been the town's center of activity,

welcoming all to its programs for many years.

The Wellness Center, through its thoughtful well planned programs, addresses the physical and medical needs of our community and is, without doubt, a tribute to our town.

Thanks to the not-for-profit, Stay at Home in Little Compton, which gives seniors an option to “stay at home” rather than leave our town. It's a popular program for transporting seniors to critical  appointments and depends on its many dedicated volunteer drivers, who fill a long-awaited need.

All of theses programs depend upon the generosity of Little Compton citizens. They make them a reality.

Our neighbors who are here to help when help is needed deserve our heartfelt thanks, as well.
