Letter: Support our youth, vote yes on Questions 9 and 10

To the editor:

Dear Barrington community, as representatives of Barrington Youth Soccer Association, East Bay Lacrosse, Barrington Pop Warner, Barrington Youth Field Hockey, and Barrington Youth Basketball, we are unified in urging you to vote YES on Supplemental Questions #9 and #10 on our local ballot.

These measures will allow the installation of turf fields, providing surfaces that can be continuously used across multiple sports while affording the opportunity to occasionally rest our grass fields to improve those natural surfaces.

This will go a long way to provide much-needed upgrades to our aging facilities.

Youth sports play a crucial role in our children's development, teaching teamwork, social skills, and resilience. Providing high-quality athletic opportunities is more important than ever in an era of increasing screen time.

Barrington should set the standard for youth sports facilities in Rhode Island, and voting YES on Questions #9 and #10 will help us achieve that. Let’s give our children the best opportunities to stay active, develop their skills, and be part of a thriving athletic community.

Sincerely,

James Cabezas, Barrington Youth Soccer Association Board President

Seth Fisher, East Bay Lacrosse Board President

Susan Moran, Barrington Pop Warner Board President

Katie Pointer, Barrington Youth Field Hockey Board President

Kara Humm, Barrington Youth Basketball Board President
