My wife and I have been hiking and biking our entire lives. Hearing about the bike plan extension sounds good. I truly believe it will be dangerous — especially around the Hope and High Street intersection.

Even with a crosswalk light, it is almost impossible to always stop a bike on time with that incline. Not to mention the area on Thames Street near Judge Roy Bean’s and Aidan’s Pub. People will be turning and trying to find a parking spot, which distracts them.

Maybe members of the Bristol Town Council should do a dry run on the new proposed bike route. This new idea makes as much sense as allowing bikes and motorcycles on the East Bay Bike Path.

I often wonder which person will be the first to lose his or her life on this decision. Every time we pass the Hope and Poppasquash intersection, my wife reminds me of the day she saw the young boy who lost his life at that spot. There is a marker there today.
