Letter: Town Meeting 101 — preparing for Tuesday

Posted

To the editor:

Westport Annual Town meeting will be held Tuesday, May 3 At 7 p.m. In the auditorium of the new Westport Junior/Senior High School. The new venue will take some getting used to but this is a great opportunity for attendees to see at least a part of the beautiful new school. The auditorium is most easily accessed by parking in the west parking lot and entering through the doors on the west side of the building toward the rear.

There will be no mask or social distancing requirements for most of the hall, but areas will be set aside where masks and distancing are required for those wanting greater COVID safety.

For those wanting to prepare for the meeting, the warrant can be seen on the home page of the town website at https://www.westport-ma.com/. Also on the home page is a very informative document prepared by the Finance Committee outlining the town’s financial situation. It can be accessed by clicking the “Finance Committee Recommended FY2023 General Fund Budget” link.  I strongly encourage all Town Meeting attendees to read it. A video reviewing all town meeting warrant articles is available on Vimeo at: https://vimeopro.com/westportcommunitytv/wctv/video/696738681.
