Letter: Voters made it clear that they wanted change

To the editor:

To the voters of Portsmouth: Portsmouth was the real winner in the Nov. 5 election. The voters made it clear that they wanted change. I am so grateful to the citizens of Portsmouth that I was part of their plan for change. A longshot Independent candidate won a seat on the Portsmouth Town Council because the citizens believed in me and took that belief to the ballot box.

I have met so many wonderful people on this journey who only want what’s best for Portsmouth. Together, we can continue to make Portsmouth a community that we are all proud of. We must continue to work together as a community: citizens, council members, our legislators, town departments, and town administration. Only through our work together will we be able to bring Portsmouth to the next level.

Thank you again for all your efforts on my behalf. Whether you hosted a focus group, put a sign on your lawn, distributed palm cards, advertised in our local newspaper, contributed to my campaign, made phone calls, held a sign on election day, used social media to promote me, or spoke to others about me … it was a combination of those efforts that made us successful! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could not have done it without you.

Gratefully,

Mary A. McDowell
