Letter: We should set term limits for our politicians

Posted

Following Monday’s declaration by Dr. Jonathan Brice, superintendent of schools, the current screwup by our School Board members seems to be settled, at least for now. Meanwhile our schools continue to rank in 15th place in the state, as they have over the past 20 years.

As Bristol and Warren taxpayers, this is unacceptable. What matters is that the School Board has shown their inability to oversee our school system in a just and proper manner.

When our local politicians screw up, as some have done in the recent past, we chuckle that they are products of the local schools. When the local kids screw up in school there are immediate consequences. Our town charter needs to include immediate termination or term limits for these outdated and irrelevant public officials.

Editor’s note: The “town charter” does not govern the Bristol Warren Regional School District.
