Live music returns to one of Newport’s most iconic public parks with the free Friends Of The Waterfront Concert Series, beginning with blues harmonica legend James Montgomery begins the series on Friday, July 11.

Following is the full schedule for the season:

Friday, July 11 - James Montgomery, All-Star Blues Band, 5-7 p.m.

Friday, July 18 - La Méchante et le ConnardFrench Lounge & Swing, 5-7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 8 - Melo GreenPsychedelic R&B, 5-7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 15 - Pets, Ambient Pop/R&B, 5-7 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 30 - Turas and Rhode To DublinIrish Celebration, 4-6 p.m.

The public is encouraged to carpool, as parking is limited. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. All concerts are weather permitting with no scheduled rain dates.

The free outdoor concert series is made possible by the Friends Of The Waterfront, New England Music Organization and North End Entertainment thanks to a generous gift from the Isham Family Fund.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
