Maria Gloria (Pavao) Castro of San Juan Drive, Bristol, passed away on April 1, 2021, at home. She was the wife of the late Deodato Oliveira Castro.
Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel J. Pavao Jr. and Maria Jose (Almeida) Pavao. She is survived by her daughter, Maggie Bernard and her husband David of Bristol; grandchildren, David Bernard Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Peter Bernard and his fiancé Jennifer St. Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln David Bernard, Peter Michael Bernard Jr. and Owen Reed Bernard. She was the sister of the late Maria “Phoebe” Owens and Manuel Pavao.
Mrs. Castro was educated in Portugal and employed by the former Smith Manufacturing, Converse and PF Industries before retiring.
Her funeral services were held on April 7 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Alysha Ferreira and Richard Roy, who also read the Prayer of the Faithful. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were David Bernard Jr., Owen Reed Bernard, Peter Michael Bernard Sr., Victor Castro, Peter Michael Bernard Jr., and Steve Almeida.
