Maria Merces (Pacheco Elizardo) Oliveira, 90, of Birchwood Road passed away on Jan. 10, 2022 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice. She was the wife of the late Joseph Tavares Oliveira.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Evangelina (Cabral) Pacheco Elizardo. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Lopes of Bristol; grandchildren Sandra Stuart and her husband Edward; Paul Lopes and his wife Stephanie and great grandchildren Ethan Stuart, Victoria Lopes, Michael Lopes and Domenic Lopes. She was the sister of Alice Elizardo and the late Jaime Pacheco and Manuel Elizardo.

Mrs. Oliveira was educated in Portugal and employed by Priscilla Sportswear for 30 years before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, Jan. 13, from 5-8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
