Mariano Oliveira Machado, 67, of Tiverton, passed away on May 12, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.  He was the husband of Maria Eduarda (Oliveira) Machado.

Born in Pico de Pedra, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria Jose (de Oliveira) Machado.

In addition to his wife for 46 years, he is survived by his children, Mark Machado and his fiancée Abagail Crider of North Carolina, and Jennifer Renchen and her husband Luke of Tiverton; and grandchildren, Alexia Machado, Taylor Machado, Cristiano Machado, Mateus Machado Avery Machado, Keegan Dutelle, Luke Renchen Jr, Cruz Renchen and Kinsley Renchen.  He was the brother of Natalie Pacheco, of Bristol, Alda Amaral of New Bedford, Manuela Machado Fitzpatrick of Bristol, Jean Gibbs of Walpole, Mass., and the late John Machado and Lucia Machado.

Mr. Machado was educated in Portugal, later moved to this country in 1968, where he worked many different, mostly landscaping, jobs. He also worked at Viti Inc. before he retired.

He was a devoted husband, grandfather and gardener, helping family and friends alike, unless he was watching “Sporting Clube of Portugal,” which he sadly missed their Championship game.

His funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 19, at 10 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 5-8 pm.

Donations in Mariano's memory can be made to: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of RI, 1150 Pontiac Ave., Suite #1, Cranston, RI 02920
