Mary Delores Gomes, 79, of Bristol

Mary Delores (Machado) Gomes, 79, of Alves Street, Bristol, passed away on April 15, 2021, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice. She was the wife of John Manuel Gomes.

Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Miguel, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Rita (Oliveira) Machado. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: John M. Gomes and his fiancée Luisa Vieira; Jose F. Gomes (Latdaborn Bonilla); and Adelino Gomes and his wife Jennifer; and grandchildren: Devon Gomes, Emma Gomes, Noah Gomes, Daniel Gomes, Jacob Gomes, Kiana Bonilla, Andrei Bonilla, Jarrid Gomes and Lauren Gomes. She was the sister of Francisco Machado, Jorge Machado, Jose Machado, Mariano Machado and the late Adelino Machado and Lucillia Menezes.

Mrs. Gomes was educated in Portugal and employed by I. Shalom and Converse before retiring.

Her funeral services were held April 20 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Devon Gomes and Kiana Bonilla.  The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Lauren Gomes. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Devon Gomes, Noah Gomes, Jarrid Gomes, Daniel Gomes, Jacob Gomes and Andrei Bonilla.
