Michelle (Couto) Tormey, 45, Portsmouth

Michelle (Couto) Tormey, 45, of Wrentham, Mass. and Portsmouth, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2014.

Born in Fall River on Oct. 23, 1968, she was the daughter of Richard Louis Couto of Woodstock, N.H. and Katherine (Hennessey) Radosevich of Portsmouth.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Tormey of Portsmouth and Wrentham, Mass.

Michelle was a loving and devoted mother who dedicated her life to her three beautiful daughters: Victoria, Olivia and Ava. They were her world.

She is also survived by her sisters, Kristine (Couto) Lowney and her husband Dr. Mark Lowney of Tiverton, Maia Chrupcala of Newport and her brother, Richard M Couto of Miami, Fla. Michelle also leaves five nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Salve Regina University.

Calling hours will be held today, Oct. 2, from 4-7 p.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.

Her funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at 8 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.

Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Lucy’s Hearth, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
