Mother’s day in a basket (or a box)

Posted

Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be a big day out — some moms actually prefer to stay in. Give them a basket that caters to their interests, and they might fall in love with a quiet day to themselves. This is also a great way for kids to get involved in making the day feel extra special — all in just a few simple steps.

1. Think of a theme first. It could be centered around coffee, chocolate, books, relaxation — whatever she enjoys.

2. Find any type of container. It doesn’t have to be a traditional basket — try a planter, a plastic bin, or even a large glass jar (or a box).

3. Choose what goes inside, thoughtfully. For example, if she likes coffee, fill a mug with something special (maybe coffee!), or if she enjoys relaxing, include hand lotion and spa gloves for a mini spa day at home. The key is to really think about what she actually likes. Or create a cozy basket with a weighted blanket and a new book to read. Think outside the box (and also, feel free to use a box).

4. Decorate it. Add ribbon, paint, love notes — put some heart into it.

That’s it! This is a super easy DIY project that can involve the kids and doesn’t have to cost a lot. Happy Mother’s Day!
