The Mt. Hope High School gymnastics team's 2024-25 regular season is well underway, the Huskies having already competed in a handful of meets to date.

Mt. Hope tallied a team total of 131.775 points in a Rhode Island Interscholastic League meet against Barrington and Portsmouth. The neighboring Eagles posted the top score of 135.3 while the Patriots tallied 133.125.

Mt. Hope's Kara Pisasale was the top all-arounder for the locals and overall in the competition with a total of 35.825. Barrington's Sophie Dunham was second with a 35.35.

Pisasale and Dunham shared the best score on vault, 9.15. Pisasale scored an 8.6 on bars and 8.9 on beam and a top total of 9.175 on floor. Dunham took bars with an 8.65 and beam with a 9.45, but received just an 8.1 on floor.

Charlotte Piper was another Mt. Hope all-arounder, scoring an 8.65 on vault, a 7.3 on bars, an 8.0 on beam and an 8.6 on floor for a 32.55 total.

Sarah Sustakowsky also scored as an all-arounder, with an 8.1 on vault, a 7.05 on bars, an 8.05 on beam and an 8.25 on floor for a total of 31.45.

Scoring in three events for the locals was Isabella Brando: 8.45 on vault, 7.65 on beam and 7.65 on floor).

Scoring in two events for the Huskies were: Madeleine St. Pierre (8.05 on beam, 6.25 on floor): Reese Rybak (5.0 on bars, 7.75 on beam); Cassida Areia (8.25 on vault and 7.6 on beam) and Evalina Minnella (7.0 on bars and 7.85 on floor).

Scoring in one event for Mt. Hope were: Natalia Quezada-Grant (floor), Maxine Scott (bars), Madeline Rozea (bars, 7.45), Ella Texeira (floor, 6.35) and Julia Pisasale (vault, 7.6).

"We lost to Barrington and Portsmouth, but we had a really good competition. Our goal was to make a 130 as a team and we exceeded that. I’m so proud of them," said Mt. Hope head coach  Nicole Daniello.

In another meet with LaSalle and the Warwick co-op, the Huskies finished with a 126.95 team score. The Rams had a 135.25 while the Pilgrim-Toll Gate tumblers had a 126.2.

LaSalle's Lauren Horrigan was the top all-arounder with a 35.325 on scores of 9.175 on vault, 8.3 on bars, 9.1 on beam and 8.75 on floor.

Competing as an individual, Burrillville's Riley Allen was second with a 34.425 on scores of 8.925 on vault, 8.65 on bars, 8.3 on beam and 8.55 on floor.

Kara Pisasale led the locals again and was third all-around with a 34.1. She received a 9.05 on vault, 7.9 on bars, 8.2 on beam and 8.95 on floor.

Piper was the other Mt. Hope all-arounder, scoring an 8.3 on vault, a 8.45 on bars, an 8.125 on beam and an 8.5 on floor for a 32.375 total.

Minnella competed in three events for the Huskies, receiving an 8.2 on vault, a 7.05 bars and a 7.9 on floor. Likewise, Brando earned a 7.195 on vault, a 6.625 on beam and a 7.6 on floor. 

Julia Pisasale also scored in three events, a 7.9 on vault, a 4.5 on bars and a 6.1 on beam. Rybak received an 8.5 on vault, a 5.55 on bars and a 6.6 on beam.

Areia scored in two events, a 7.915 on vault and a 6.625 on beam. Rozea received a 6.625 on beam and a 7.9 on floor. Also, St. Pierre earned a 7.5 on bars and Scott competed on bars.

Mt. Hope is scheduled to return to action Sunday, Jan. 19, in Coventry at New Generation to face the host Oakers South Kingstown at 6 p.m.
