Students from Mt. Hope held their Senior Musicafé on Thursday evening, May 22, in the cafeteria, going out swinging and styling in their final high school show.

According to MHHS Music instructor David Lauria, the monthly musicafés are run by student officers in the choral department. He continued, "We encourage performers to do whatever type of music they enjoy, and we have had songwriters and rappers debut new music at our shows. Our two biggest crowds, both over 200 people, have been at the last two shows."

The May 22 setlist (performer, song and artist) was as follows: Eliza White, Vienna-Billy Joel; Taliah Reid, Dawn in the Adan-Ichiko Aoba; Maxine Scott and Mirna Reyes-Hernandez, Baby-Justin Bieber; Elijah Pichette, Todo Va Estar Bien-Redimi2; Summer Rhynard, City Of Stars-La La Land; Taliah Reid, Seabed Eden-Ichiko Aoba; Cristina Marino, Higher-Creed; Tory Matias, Beth-Kiss; Marron Cornejo, Dreaming of You-Selena; Lucy O'Brien, Late in the Evening-Paul Simon; Millie Piper, Don't Think Twice It's Alright-Bob Dylan; Lillian DePoy, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road-Elton John; Kiara DeRobbio, The Story-Brandy Carlile; and DeRobbio, Sweet Child of Mine-Guns N' Roses. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
