Barrington residents who need help with yard work, clean-up, or small home repair projects are encouraged to reach out ahead of the annual Barrington Day of Caring, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14.
Those requiring assistance should contact Karen Griffith, Spencer Trust Administrator, at 401-247-1900, ext. 384, or complete the Day of Caring site application, available on the Town of Barrington’s website (www.barrington.ri.gov).
The Day of Caring is a community event where volunteers come together to provide support to residents in need. Tasks include yard work, home maintenance, and other small projects. This event is open to volunteers of all ages and skill levels. Specialized skills are particularly welcome.
The Spencer Trust supports the event by providing assistance to income-eligible residents, focusing on those who may have difficulty maintaining their homes. Many recipients are elderly or disabled individuals. The trust works with local community leaders and the Town of Barrington to identify those in need and coordinate necessary projects.
Volunteers interested in participating can fill out the volunteer application form online.
