Newport Contemporary Ballet is hosting a series of performances this weekend, “Mosaic: Puzzles of Love and Connection.” They take place Oct. 18 to 20 at The Elks Lodge, 141 Pelham St., Newport.

Irregular and complex, our lives fit together in ways that are simultaneously perfect and imperfect.  Mosaic explores the uniqueness of our interactions, the relationships we crave, and the beauty that is inherent in it all.

Newport Contemporary Ballet brings its dynamic repertory program to the Elks Lodge in Newport featuring a world premiere work by acclaimed choreographer, Takehiro “Take” Ueyama.  NCB’s Artistic Director, Danielle Genest, also premieres a new piece set to the beautiful and lush Second Suite of Maurice Ravel’s, Daphnis and Chloé.  And, back by popular demand, Amy Hall Garner’s riveting work, Ripple Effect, rounds out the program.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
