Newport Burger Bender is back and bigger than ever

The Classic Coast is gearing up for the biggest burger contest in the region with the return of the 8th Annual Newport Burger Bender, taking place Feb. 14 to 23. This year marks the most participating restaurants ever, at 56 restaurants, including seven new restaurants.

The ten-day battle of the burgers showcases the wildest, most creative burgers from restaurants throughout Newport and Bristol Counties.

Featuring three categories: beef, non-beef and plant based, the burgers run the taste spectrum from the ‘Brown Butter Gnocchi Burger’ a beef burger from Chomp Kitchen & Drinks in Warren, to the ‘Lionhead Big Mac’ a non-beef burger from Yagi Noodles in Newport, to the ‘Meatless Buffalo Burger’ a plant-based burger from Rhody Roots in Warren.

“We are so excited to see this contest grow, to over 56 participating restaurants throughout our region. It’s a testament to the success of the program, and truly to how fun it is for both the diners and restaurant teams, we love how passionate and creative they get!” stated Julie Grant, Discover Newport Senior Digital Marketing Manager and contest organizer.

Diners will vote for their favorite online at DiscoverNewport.org or at participating restaurants using QR codes displayed on site. Winning restaurants are awarded the ‘Best Burger’ bragging rights and can be considered in the running for the Newport Burger Hall of Fame, for burgers who win ‘Best Burger’ three times (non-consecutively) in the same category.

Visitors are also encouraged to check out all the fun at the 37th Annual Newport Winter Festival, running consecutive dates as Newport Burger Bender, from Feb. 14 to 23.

Newport Burger Bender is sponsored by Discover Newport.
