Newport Vineyards hosts 7th annual Harvest Festival

Newport Vineyards hosts its seventh annual Harvest Festival this weekend, with four sessions spread over two days. Along with wine and beer tasting, the festival will feature grape stomping competitions, stein-hoisting competitions, live music and a variety of foods. There will also be free axe-throwing and cooking over an open fire.

Sessions are:

Saturday, Oct. 26 (live music from DudeManBro)
Session 1: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Session 2: 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 27 (live music from Real Weird)
Session 1: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Session 2: 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m.

A $35 general admission ticket includes admission to the specific session only, a souvenir vineyard logo glass & tasting – your choice of 5 tastes from the wine, cider and beer bars. Food items and additional beverages (including a slushy & sangria) are available for purchase.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
