Portsmouth Police deal with B&E, disorderly conduct, DUIs, trespassing

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Monday, April 14

Katherine Brown, 58, of 103 Canton Ave., was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, after being pulled over for moving violations on Route 24 North at Cedar Island around 11:45 p.m. Brown was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, police said. 

Saturday, April 19

Jay Patrick Kane, 34, of 299 Carpenter St., Providence, was arrested on Bradford Avenue at Melville Campgrounds at about 8:45 p.m., after police received a report of an unwanted party inside a camper. At the scene, Kane could not provide any identification and it was determined that he had broken into the camper, police said. He was charged with breaking and entering into a dwelling house without consent; obstructing officer in execution of duty; and vandalism with malicious injury to property. Kane also had an active bench warrant that had been issued by 6th District Court, police said.

Monday, April 21

Stacy A. Weaver, 46, of 48 Jean St., Middletown, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance at about 9 p.m. Weaver was pulled over on West Main Road at Route 24 North for several moving violations, and officers found what appeared to be illegal substances in her vehicle, without a proper prescription, police said. 

Tuesday, April 22

William J. Paniagua Gomez, 28, of 16 Stanton St. 3, Worcester, Mass., was charged with operating under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked. He was pulled over for moving violations on East Main Road at Union Street bound 10 p.m., police said.

Friday, April 25

Daniel P. Woods, 60, of 8 Chase Road, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior). Officers responded to 3382 East Main Road at about 1:30 p.m. in response to a report of a fight in progress. When they arrived officers spoke with a person who had a severe facial laceration, a lump on the head, and a bruised cheek as a result of a physical altercation, police said.

Derek Lawrence Trimble, 54 of 27 Walden Way, Milford, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense, following a motor vehicle accident on Route 25 South at West Main Road around 8:10 p.m.

Saturday, April 26

Brandon A. Wilson, 40, of 108 Bluff Ave., Cranston, was charged with DUI, third offense, after being stopped on West Main Road for multiple traffic violations around midnight. Wilson was also charged with driving without a valid license, his fourth offense, and he was cited for refusing a chemical test.

Robert Earl Smith, 54, of 3382 East Main Road, 1 Rear, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior) in connection with an altercation that had taken place at his home the previous day, police said. Smith had been transported to Newport Hospital for injuries sustained during the incident, and he was arrested around 8:40 a.m. on a warrant issued by police detectives.

Shelby Lynn Steele, 34, of 12 Gravely Drive, Middletown, was charged with disorderly conduct (making loud/disturbing noise) at 1620 West Main Road at about 8:10 p.m.

Danette Regan McManus, 60, of 115 Col. Christopher Green Road, was charged with domestic willful trespassing, her second offense, according to police. Police had issued a warrant for McManus’s arrest following an incident that had taken place April 19, police said. McManus was charged when she came into police headquarters at about 10:20 p.m. Police said she was currently on probation and was held overnight pending transport to the state women’s intake facility in Cranston. The victim was a 55-year-old man who lives in Portsmouth, according to police.
