Robert H. MacDougall, Jr., age 82, departed this life quietly at UMass Hospital in Worcester, Mass., on Aug. 13, 2021. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert Sr. and Delores (Lessard), and his brothers, Claude and Bruce MacDougall.

He leaves his partner of 37 years, Sandra J. McCauley, and his children, Heather Moore, Jillian Heenan, Robert H. MacDougall III, Matthew and Kimberly MacDougall and Victoria Swiss. He also leaves behind his sisters, Rebecca MacDougall and Dolores Donnelly, and his brothers, James and Oliver MacDougall. He had too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to list, but he loved them all.

Robert proudly served in the Army National Guard while at Warren High School and in the Navy after graduation, from 1956 to 1960, spending most of his service in London, England. He entered Metropolitan Life Insurance Company upon his return and eventually became a district manager. He retired after 25 years.

He continued on to work in automobile sales in both Worcester, Mass., and Middletown, R.I., with the same zest and enthusiasm until he was 65. He continued as a runner for the dealership until retiring at 78. He was honored to be a member of the Newport Elks Lodge 104 and the American Legion Post #0007 and VFW Post #15041.

He loved to travel, go on cruises and entertain at home. He was a great host when he wasn’t setting the grill on fire!

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at 12 p.m. in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, RI. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Contributions in his honor may be to the Potter League, 87 Oliphant Ln., Middletown, RI 02842. Burial private.
