Robert Stirling Morris, 88, of Canterbury, Conn., and Oak Island, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, after a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife Carolyn J. Morris; his son, Robert Bruce (Anne) of Riverside, R.I.; his daughters, Susan B. Morris of Southbridge, Mass., and Karen Desrosier (Edward) of Lake Wales, Fla.; his ten grandchildren, Jason Dupre, Justin Dupre, Jared Morris, Beth Aime LaBonte, Jonathan LaBonte, Ryan Labonte, Lindsey Cruz, Shannon Huffman, Grady Cameron, Sevonah Cameron; and 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Patricia Spaid (Fred) of Harleysville, Pa. He was member of Ocean View United Methodist Church in Oak Island.

He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on June 12, 1933. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert B. Morris and Agnes C. Morris, and stepdaughter, Kathleen Y. Cameron.

He graduated from Pawtucket East High School, and Rhode Island School of Design.

He was a veteran Staff Sergeant of the U.S. Marine Corp and served during the Korean War and was also a member of the Marine Corp League, American Institute of Architects, and NRA.

Bob lived for many years in Sturbridge, Mass., where he raised his family. He was a Boy Scout Leader, baseball coach, served on the town Planning Board, and served on many other committees. Bob also had offices in Pawtucket, R.I. and Warwick, R.I., where he also served on the local Planning Board.

Bob loved his Ford Ranchero, fly-tying and fishing along with his long membership at Fin and Feather sportsman club in CT.

As a Nationally Registered Architect, he designed hundreds of commercial and residential projects, spanning over a 64-year career. From hotels, schools, churches, medical facilities, restaurants, yacht clubs and homes from New England to Alaska, many people knew of his keen eye for design, which also included non-traditional earth sheltered, and solar design buildings. Bob also taught at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.

There are no local services.  A private service and burial will take place in Dalton, Pa., at the convenience of the family.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.peacocknewnamwhite.com for the Morris family.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Bob’s name.
