Roger S. Orefice Jr., 90, of Riverside

Roger S. Orefice Jr., age 90, of Riverside, R.I., died peacefully on March 11, 2021, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Jean A. (Gilmore) Orefice.

Roger was born in Bristol, R.I., the son of the late Roger and Bridget (Tamarro) Orefice.

Mr. Orefice served as a Corporal during the Korean War in the United States Army.

He is survived by his “special” friend, “Jennifer,” nephews Roger Orefice and his wife Fran, Anthony Orefice, Michael Orefice and his wife Karen; and nieces, Judy Seale and her husband Michael, Barbara Oliveira and her husband George.

Funeral and services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904, and St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
