Runners break two Barrington High School track records
Small group of runners compete in Ocean Breeze Freedom Games
On Saturday, Jan. 7, a small group of Barrington boys track athletes headed to the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games on Staten Island in New York, one of the largest attended indoor track and field meets in the country this season.
The highlight of the day for the Eagles was a stunning performance by junior Brandon Piedade, who was crowned meet champion in the 3,200 after leading the race for the entire second half.
His time of 9:21.1 broke his own school record, and right now stands as the fourth best high school 3,200 time in the country.
Also, BHS junior Ethan Knight placed fourth out of more than 130 athletes in the 55-meter hurdles, his time breaking Barrington's 2019 school record previously held by Walter Joachim-DelPoio.
Other Eagles competing in this prestigious meet were junior Iain Deboth, and senior Nate Greenberg in the 55 dash, and senior Eli Terrell, sophomore Bobby Wind, and junior Ryan Martin in the 55 hurdles.
