Ashely Pimental, the food service director for Silver Creek Rehab And Adult Healthcare, recently won state honors by being named Food Service Director of the year for 2022 by the Rhode Island Health Care Association. The distinction comes among competition from 80 such facilities located throughout Rhode Island.

Pimental, a native Bristolian, has worked at Silver Creek since 2016, where she started as a cook, and has risen to be in charge of 20 employees and orchestrates the meal plans for over 100 residents. Her career in food service for the elderly started as a 15-year-old when she began working at Grace Barker in Warren. She is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University.

Pimental said that she gets her most joy from working “when a resident’s plate is clean.”

“You have to care to be in this business,” she said.
