St. Andrew’s School graduated 50 students during its commencement for the Class of 2025 on Saturday, May 24.
The graduates hail from seven states and 10 countries. Students will continue their journeys at more than 40 institutions in 15 states and five countries, and some will pursue gap years, careers, or service work.
This year St. Andrew’s is seeing record acceptances at highly competitive colleges including Northeastern University, University of Southern California, Bates College, Grinnell College, University of Miami, Babson College, Lafayette College, and Skidmore College.
Sixteen of the graduates will be playing college soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, and some will be continuing their arts studies at institutions such as the University of the Arts London, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Ithaca College.
St. Andrew’s alumnus and Vice President of the Board of Trustees Ben White ‘08 gave the commencement address, sharing his St. Andrew’s experience and the message that “what you do matters — but how you do it matters even more.”
“St. Andrew’s is a place where no one is anonymous. It’s not a place where you simply pass through halls or slip through the cracks,” White said. “Here, you are known, supported, and encouraged — by your teachers, by your coaches, by the people sitting beside you right now. That kind of belonging is rare. It’s powerful. And it’s something that, if you let it, will stay with you for the rest of your life. That’s what makes the St. Andrew’s experience so unique. It’s not about creating perfect students; it’s about creating whole people, good people — people who are not just smart, but kind; not just talented, but humble; not just ambitious, but deeply rooted in values that matter.”
White’s final remarks to the graduates were: “As you step into this next chapter, carry with you this charge — continue to uncover the unique value only you can offer, and never stop reaching toward your full potential. Let the light of this community guide you, and wherever life takes you, be a source of light for others by creating new communities of your own. Share the Chapin tradition in ways that are true to you, and know that no matter where your journey leads, you will always have a home here — ready to cheer you on and welcome you back with open arms.”
Student speaker Georgia Patterson said, “We will all head in different directions soon. To different places, towards different goals, to pursue different dreams. But, the best part is that we all came down this same road, along this same path, leaving our marks. And though we are leaving now, we will all be here forever.”
St. Andrew’s Head of School David Tinagero spoke to the Class of 2025 about the Voyager 1 spacecraft mission and the Golden Record, leaving the graduates with, “You are voyagers. You are carrying your own golden record. It may not be strapped to the side of a spacecraft, but it’s inside you — the values, the relationships, the love, the laughter, the learning, the messy, brilliant, beautiful years you’ve spent at St. Andrew’s. Keep sending your signal. Even if it’s faint. Even if it takes a while to come through. We’ll be listening.”
