Student finds a second shell casing outside Barrington elementary school

Police send shell casings to state crime lab

Posted

A school official in Barrington called police on Monday, Nov. 18 after a student at Primrose Hill School found a spent shell casing outside the school. This was the second shell casing found outside the school in the last few weeks.

Police said the first shell casing was found on Nov. 6, and on Nov. 9 a resident who lives near the school called police to report she heard shots fired on Oct. 29, between 5:05 and 5:10 a.m.

Police reviewed video footage taken outside the school from that day, but did not see anything suspicious.

Police said they are sending both shell casings to the state crime lab for analysis. Police said people have no reason to be concerned.

First discovery

A Barrington resident stopped into the station on Nov. 6 after his son found an empty shell casing outside Primrose Hill School. Police said the boy found the shell casing on the ground near the modular classrooms. Police said the casing was worn and there was no reason for concern. Still, police conducted additional checks of the school and posted additional officers in the area.
