Farmers’ markets are free and open to the public, but there is likely no chance of leaving without making at least one purchase. It’s too hard to pass up the fresh vegetables, fruits, jams, and baked goods that the vendors have on display. There are two important things to remember before heading out to the market, though.
1. Find out which methods of payment are accepted before going. One thing to keep in mind is that different vendors might have different methods of payment available, which could be from any of the following: cash, debit and credit cards, fresh bucks, EBT ( with a 100 percent bonus for fruits and vegetables), WIC, and, senior farmers’ market checks.
2. Bring some reusable bags to carry the items purchased. It also could be a good idea to bring some ice packs (maybe even a rolling cooler) for items like seafood or meats or eggs or hummus that might need to be kept cool while perusing vendors at the market.
