Video surveillance cameras captured footage of two men trying to break into Barrington residents' cars early Sunday morning, Jan. 5.

A Barton Avenue resident called police at about 1:45 a.m. after she received an alert on her phone activated by a security camera on her property. The camera had recorded footage of two men trying to break into the resident's car, which was parked on the street. 

The resident told police one of the men was wearing a trench coat, while the other was wearing a being sweatshirt. Police responded to the area and also contacted Warren police, since Barton Avenue is within walking distance of Warren. 

Eventually Warren police officers found two men outside the Tourister Mill complex and said the individuals were running back over the Warren River Bridge into Barrington. Police scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, police received a phone call from a Sowams Road resident who said her home security cameras had captured footage of two men trying to break into her vehicles at about 1 a.m. The men were unable to enter the locked vehicles.
