Newport Film and the Roger Williams Park Conservancy together present the Winter Warm Up Series, with a showing of “Ultimate Citizens.” The event is sponsored by the Providence Tourism Council with additional support from the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center.

It takes place Thursday, Feb. 20. Admission is free, but RSVP is required. Suggested donation is $10.

Hot chocolate is courtesy of Ben and Jerry’s Thames Street.

“Ultimate Citizens” is the story of Jamshid Khajavi, an extraordinary 65-year-old Iranian American public school counselor who uses the sport of Ultimate Frisbee to help children heal. In an America where many families are quietly, barely getting by, Mr. Jamshid coaches an underdog team of kids on their way to compete in the world’s largest youth tournament. The film is a celebration of resilience and belonging, and the third independent feature documentary from award-winning filmmaker Francine Strickwerda.

The venue opens at 6 p.m. The film begins at 7 p.m.
