Tuesday, Jan. 17
A Child Street resident reported at 1:07 p.m. that a man tried to gain entry to their apartment and the unit next door.

A man reported that he had “narcotics” stolen from his mail at 4:07 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 18
A Main Street resident called police at 2:26 a.m. persistently requesting pizza and would not engage in normal conversation. Police ordered a rescue to take the party for an evaluation, which they refused.

DPW was advised that a large truck had hit a stop sign near Water and Miller Streets at 6:44 a.m. An officer reported an area check for the driver came up negative.

A Child Street resident reported at 11:44 a.m. that a harassing note had been left on their vehicle that involved a parking dispute.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested on Reservoir Avenue at 2:20 p.m. and charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown), first offense. They were sent to Hasbro later and a parent was notified.

A Franklin Street resident requested police assistance at 4:37 p.m. after observing a “scruffy” man taking photos of their house.

A person called police at 7:39 p.m. reporting that their car had been stolen from a lot on Metacom Avenue. Police helped the person find it in a different spot, with the person reporting they had “forgot” they moved the car to the second location.

Thursday, Jan. 19
An injured swan was reported on Child Street at 7:37 a.m. An officer reported seeing the swan make it safely to the water.

Friday, Jan. 20
A hit and run accident was reported near Touisset Road and Blackthorne Lane at 1:19 p.m. Police were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle.

Thomas Mahoney, 18, of Cranston, was arrested on a warrant at 2:50 p.m. He was charged with domestic violence (criminal violation of a no contact order, first offense). He was arraigned and transported to the ACI later that evening.

A scam involving the purchase of gift cards was reported on Market Street at 3:54 p.m.

A resident’s vehicle was caught in high flood waters on Metacom Avenue at 5:56 p.m. Police helped the car be freed from the water so a private tow company could access the vehicle.

Saturday, Jan. 21
Police advised someone to quiet down on Cutler Street after a neighbor complained they were yelling at someone on the phone and “waking everyone up.”

A person reported at 3:23 a.m. that the window of their rental car had been broken on Market Street.

Police dispersed two men who were reportedly sleeping in the vehicle on Main Street at 10:58 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 22
Albert Thornton, 58, of Swansea, Mass., was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Serpentine and Schoolhouse Roads at 1:03 a.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer. He was arraigned and transported to the hospital later that morning.

A Middle Street resident reported someone was operating an ATV in the roadway at 1:00 p.m. Police didn’t locate the rider.

A call at 2:03 p.m. on Middle Street once again reported an ATV in the roadway. This time police caught the individual and removed the off-road vehicle from the road.

Franklin Larrivee, 53, of Warren, was arrested on Metacom Avenue at 9:38 p.m. following a disturbance that occurred following a noise complaint. The report indicates Larrivee allegedly answered the door in response to a noise complaint while holding a shotgun. He was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a prohibited large capacity feeding device for a firearm, and carrying a weapon while under the influence of liquor or drugs. He was transported to district court the following morning and turned over to the Sheriff’s Department.

Monday, Jan. 23
Michael Cabral, 32, of Seekonk, Mass., was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Main and Crescent Streets at 1:17 a.m. He was charged with three counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, vandalism, and disorderly conduct, all first offenses). He was transported to district court later that morning.

A No Parking sign on Main Street was reportedly knocked over following a minor accident at 8:47 a.m. RIDOT was notified.

Several hypodermic needles were reportedly found in a store parking lot on Market Street at 11:38 a.m.
