The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police logs from Monday, April 28-Sunday, May 4:
Monday, April 28
The Warren Police and Fire Departments got their work weeks going by responding to an accident on Market Street at about 2:25 p.m., which downed power lines. Responders were first told of an active fire on the pole, however upon arrival there were no flames. Rhode Island Energy was called to the scene. None of those involved in the accident was injured. Traffic was diverted from the location.
Later in the day, at about 8:30 p.m., WPD answered a car jacking call from Parker and Child Streets. The caller reported her window was broken and she was threatened by the alleged assailant with a machete. The incident eventually led to the arrest of a Cranston man, 22-year-old Raymond Andrade of 30 Howard St., on the charges of felony assault and/or battery; second degree robbery - carjacking; simple assault and/or battery; vandalism; resisting legal or illegal arrest; and weapons other than firearms prohibited. Howard was arraigned and transported to the Adult Correctional Institute.
Tuesday, April 29
A motor vehicle stop at Kickemuit Road and Metacomet Avenue around 9:15 p.m. led to the arrest of a town resident on the alleged charges of DUI of liquor - blood alcohol concentration unknown - 1st offense and refusal to submit chemical test. Derek P. Ferreira, 35, of 12 Parker Ave., was later arraigned and released.
Wednesday, April 30
Another motor vehicle accident, this one on Market Street at approximately 8:15 p.m., involved the two deer entering the roadway and being struck. One of the animals was reported deceased by the responding officer upon arrival. The second deer left the area. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management was notified of the incident.
Thursday, May 1
Police responded to an animal complaint phoned in from the area of Schoolhouse and Serpentine Roads at 12:45 p.m. The caller reported a goat was in distress with a bag over its head. The WPD animal control unit responded, contacting the owner of the goat and reported the animal was OK.
Officers aided their brethren from Swansea PD in helping to identify the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident. SPD reported the vehicle involved had front right side damage with possible blue paint transfer from the other vehicle it allegedly struck. WPD officers later found a vehicle matching the description at a Vernon Street location just after 5:15 p.m. The information was sent to Swansea PD for further action.
Friday, May 2
WPD received an early morning call from the area of Baggy Wrinkle Cove of a found dog, deemed to be tan Pomeranian mix. After attempting to find its owner at the location without success, the dog was taken to shelter. About two hours later, the owner sought information on the pet and was on its way to take the pup home.
Sunday, May 4
Following a routine motor vehicle stop at just after 8:15 p.m. on Metacom Avenue, a WPD officer arrested a Woonsocket man for a habitual license infraction. Michael O. Ebiwa, 37, of 104 Sayles St., Apt. #214, was charged with Driving With Expired License or Without License - 4th + Offense. Ebiwa was later arraigned and released.
