Warren Police Log: Officers assist in corralling livestock, answer hit-and-run car calls

The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police logs from Monday, March 10, to Sunday, March 16:

Monday, March 10
Warren Police began the week answering a few calls. The first at about 11:50 a.m. from Kinnicutt Avenue where two loose dogs were brought to the shelter and a notice was left at the residence where they were retrieved. The second was for another loose canine on Barden Lane at 5:30 p.m. Before police arrived, though, the owner was located and took possession of the pup. The third at 6:30 p.m. was for a sick opossum on Beth Avenye, which upon arrival was deemed to be fine and if there were any other problems with the animal to call the animal control officer.

Tuesday, March 11
The animal complaint calls continued into March 11 when an officer responded to a report of loose livestock on Birchswamp Road at 10:30 a.m. The officer reported the animal(s) were corralled and returned to the owner.
The Warren Fire Department was called into service at around 1:30 p.m. to attend to a brush fire on Long Lane. With the aid of counterparts from Bristol and Swansea, the fire was reported contained about an hour later.

Wednesday, March 12
After responding to an erratic/aggressive operator situation at just before noon, police arrested a Warren man on charges of Driving With Suspended/Revoked/Cancelled License - 4th + Offense. Marc S. Jolu, of 25 Homestead Avenue was taken into custody after being observed operating his vehicle "left of center." He was transported back to police headquarters and later released with a summons.

Thursday, March 13
A police officer on was flagged down by pedestrian on Metacom Avenue at about 6 p.m., being alerted to a tree limb dangling over the roadway and looked like it was "about to fall down." The officer confirmed the potential injurious situation and advised the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to attend to the matter.

Friday, March 14
Police responded to a hit-and-run accident on Market and Main Streets at about 5p.m. The caller reported witnessing the suspect vehicle continue northbound on Main. Barrington Police were called, an officer there identifying the described vehicle with a damaged front passenger side bumper. BPD took over the case.

Saturday, March 15
A missing computer was recovered and returned to its owner after police received a call from Market Street at just after noon. The computer locator signal was pinging in the area. The item was eventually discovered in a building, which was closed at the time. The computer was eventually located and retrieved by police. The owner picked up the item at headquarters later the same evening.

A Bristol woman was arrested after police responded to an erratic/aggressive operator call at Schoolhouse Road and Kinnicutt Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. Heidi Harvey, 48, of 1086 Hope Street was charged with DUI of liquor - blood alcohol concentration unknown - 1st offense and refusal to submit chemical test after police answered a call reporting a call may have struck another vehicle and continued on. An officer stopped the vehicle on Metacom Avenue. The suspect was later arraigned and released.
