Posted

The following is a synopsis of the Warren Police logs from Monday, March 17-Sunday, March 23:

Monday, March 17
The work week began for the Warren Police Department on St. Patrick's Day inauspiciously with a curbside rubbish complaint call from Main Street at about 8:30 a.m. reporting "human waste had been dumped" on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant, who said a neighbor had washed away the matter prior to his arrival.

Tuesday, March 18
Police responded to an animal complaint call from Detroit Avenue at around 2:30 p.m., telling of a black lab dog was loose. Animal Control answered the call and about an hour later reported back that the animal had been returned to its owner.

Wednesday, March 19
Wednesday started with police answering another animal complaint call on Market Street at 8:30 a.m. The ACO responded to the report of a loose dog, which was located on Mason Street. The dog was found to out with its owner on Market and no further action was required.

A call from Main Street at around 10:45 a.m. reported damage to their vehicle after hitting a large pothole. Police went to the scene and confirmed the significance of the pothole, which was located on Vernon Street westbound at St. Mary of the Bay Church. A cone was placed and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation was notified.

Thursday, March 20
Becoming the theme of the week, police received a call from Touisset Road at around 7:30 p.m. to respond to another animal complaint call. This one dealt with a dog, which "attacked" the complainant's ducks. The matter was being investigated.

Friday, March 21
The animal complaint calls continued as officers responded to the scene at Thompson Street after a report of an injured skunk at about 7:45 a.m. The animal was transported to the shelter for further attention.

Later that same morning, at about 11:30 a.m., police were called to Wood Street to help corral a loose dog. The canine was gathered and returned to its owner on Hall Avenue some 15 minutes later.

Saturday, March 22
Police received a call of an open burn complaint call from Haile Street at just after 3 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer reported the fire was small and contained in a brick over-style pit. A hose was situated nearby and there wasn't significant smoke.

Sunday, March 23
And fittingly, among the calls on the day police answered an animal complaint report at around 6:30 p.m. of a skunk struck by a vehicle at Wood and Federal Streets. The skunk had expired and was to be disposed by the ACO.
