Warren police logs: Burr's Hill clam shell broken into

A juvenile brought in a cell phone found on Main Street.

Joshua D. Strother, 27, of Providence, was picked up on a warrant and charged with felony assault and/or battery, domestic simple assault and/or battery, and domestic disorderly conduct.

A Warren man reported that his car had been scratched while parked on Franklin Street.

Police tried but failed to remove a cat stuck in a car's engine bay. The owner called from Child Street asking for help; police told him to contact the animal control officer in the morning if it was still there.

Police were called to Grove Avenue twice within less than an hour. The first time was for a complaint of an erratic motorcycle driver, the second for a resident revving his motorcycle engine. Police said the calls were part of an ongoing neighborhood dispute.

Fire crews were able to extinguish a fire that started in the oven of a third floor Main Street residence. The call came in just after 8 p.m.

A caller reported that a man had been pacing back and forth on Water Street for some time. He was looking for his lost cell phone, police learned.

Tuesday, June 1

Dana M. La Freniere, 43, of Providence, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or cancelled license, third or subsequent offense, after a car stop on Arlington Avenue just after 6:30 a.m.

A caller reported loud yelling on ThompsonStreet just after 12:30 p.m.

A Libby Lane resident complained that an upstairs resident kept banging on the walls.

A Colonial Drive woman complained that two solicitors "stood on her doorstep for an extended period of time and they pressured her with too many questions before leaving." The solicitors, for Aptive Pest Control, were tracked down and advised of the complaint.

A Child Street woman told police that she'd fallen for a scam and gave her bank information to someone over the phone. Police reported that no money had been taken, and advised her to contact the bank.

A caller complained about a motorcycle driving at excessive speeds on Water Street.

Wednesday, June 2

Damien Marshall, 32, of Bristol, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after a car stop on Metacom Avenue at 1:07 a.m.

Town surveillance cameras picked up two men in front of Warren Town Hall just after 1 a.m. Police spoke to them, and they said they were looking for discarded cigarettes.

A Market Street woman reported having issues with her husband.

Kevin C. Dickson, 41, of 18 Pennsylvania Ave., was charged with domestic simple assault and/or battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called to Pennsylvania Avenue by his wife.

Thursday, June 3

A caller reported hitting a deer at Market Street and Birchswamp Road at 4:16 a.m.

A Child Street juvenile complained that her parent would not let her back into the house. Police resolved the issue.

A loud party complaint came in from Arlington Avenue just before 3 p.m. Police said light music was playing, and that there were no issues.

A caller complained about a juvenile on the roof of a Child Street building. Police searched but came up empty handed.

A caller reported a white SUV on the bike path, near Kelly and Main streets.

A motorist in a Metacom Avenue drive through lane reported being rear ended.

Friday, June 4

Several callers complained about a man approaching cars on Metacom Avenue and asking for money.

A Union Street woman called police and asked for help with an unruly grandson.

A woman brought in a cell phone she'd found on the side of the road. It was returned to its owner.

A caller said he saw someone riding what he believed was his son's bike, stolen last year. Police were not able to locate the bike but did stop and talk to a group of juveniles at Jamiels Park.

Saturday, June 5

Someone broke into the Burr's Hill band shell the previous night, a caller told police.

Police assisted a woman who locked her cat, and her keys, inside her car on Main Street. They were able to get the door open.

An injured fawn spotted on Point Farm Road was taken to a clinic after being spotted by a resident there.

James T. Stebbins, 25, of Cranston, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, after police pulled him over on Main Street at 10:56 a.m.

An Arlington Avenue resident complained about a neighbor lighting fireworks.

Bradley P. Fortes Teixeira, 19, of East Providence, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, after police pulled him over on Arlington Avenue at 7:24 p.m.

Ryan Nieves, 19, of Falmouth Ma., was charged with driving without or on an expired license, first offense, after police pulled him over on Main Street at 8:41 p.m.

A caller complained about fireworks in the Wood Street area just after 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 6

Jacob R. McCollough, 23, of Cumberland, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after he was stopped on Arlington Avenue at 2:34 a.m.

A Market Street woman called police at 3:13 a.m. to report that she had just gotten into an argument with her husband, who left shortly afterwards.

A Metacom Avenue woman told police at 8:56 a.m. that her boyfriend was heavily intoxicated and had been yelling at her for several hours.

A woman said a man threw a coffee at her as she drove on Seymour Street just before 11 a.m.

A caller complained that 'rowdy teens' on the East Bay Bike Path were stopping people and shouting obscenities.

Fabian Medina, 23, of Providence, was charged with driving on a suspended, revoked or canceled license, second offense, after he was pulled over on Market Street at 6:13 p.m.

Jorge Rodriguez, 27, of Providence, was charged with driving after the denial, revocation or suspension of his license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Main Street at 6:30 p.m.

A caller asked to speak to an officer regarding abandoned fishing line on the Warren River bridge.

A Child Street caller asked for police help with an unruly juvenile.

A caller complained about fireworks on Asylum Road just before 9 p.m.

A Market Street woman reported a large turtle crossing the road on Market Street. No word on why it wanted to get to the other side.
