The Westport Health on Tuesday mandated the wearing of masks in all indoor public places, including houses of worship.
The emergency regulation comes as Westport has seen a substantial climb in COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the year. It will remain in effect until March 7, unless rescinded at an earlier date or extended by a vote of the Board of Health.
The order:
1. Requires covering both the mouth and nose for all individuals two years old and older in all indoor public spaces, houses of worship, and private spaces open to the public, except where an individual is unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition or disability.
2. Diners may only remove face coverings when seated in restaurants.
3. Indoor performance venue customers may only remove face coverings in the actual act of eating and drinking, if permitted in the venue.
4. Members, visitors and employees of private membership clubs must wear masks while indoors.
5. Lodgin guests and workers are required to wear face coverings when inside hallways and common areas.
6. Residents, visitors and employees in multi-unit homes and apartments are required to wear face masks inside hallways and common areas.
7. At personal service businesses such as barber shops and salons, all customers and workers are required to wear face masks, except for skin or beard care, where the customer may temporarily remove the covering.
8. Masks are mandatory on public and private transportation, including ride shares, liveries, taxis, ferries and buses, in healthcare facilities and in other settings hosting vulnerable populations.
9. All entry doors of businesses open to the public must post notice that face masks are required.
