The Westport volleyball team beat Avon, 3-0, on Wednesday and West Bridgewater, 3-0,  on Thursday, in back to back home games to boost their undefeated season to, 7-0, in the Mayflower Athletic Conference.

Senior setter, Abby Gaudreau amassed 40 assists, 10 aces, 2 kills and 14 service points over the two games as the team didn’t drop a set. Hitter, Kayleigh Finglas, was a beast over the two games. The junior smashed 15 aces, 18 kills and 19 service points.

Senior Marissa Quinlan recorded 4 aces, 6 kills and 6 service points against Avon and Maddy Benson had 3 kills, 4 blocks and 5 service points against West Bridgewater.

“This is the deepest team I have had in quite sometime,” said Wildcats head coach Mike King. “Expectations are high both with me and the girls.”

The Wildcats are loaded with eight talented seniors that are playing in their sixth season together. Paige Churchill, Abby Gaudreau, Emma Gendreau, Samantha McCarthy, Marisa Quinlan, Jenna Carreiro, Sophia Terra and Megan Avery all have been playing together since seventh grade.

“ The team is very heavy with senior leadership,” Coach King said. “They know each other’s game and know how to work together to produce high quality volleyball. We are all excited to see how this season ends up for us.”

The group went undefeated in last year’s, fall 2 season, but did not receive the Mayflower crown, due to the, “logistics,” said Coach King.

The quest for the crown has made the Wildcats more determined than ever.

“This season the girls want that championship,” exclaimed Coach King.
