Annual gathering returns to Larisa Park in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Folk Festival returned to Rose Larisa Park in city on Sunday, Aug. 29, coming back to its latest home following cancellation last summer due health and safety restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival, last held in 2019 at Larisa Park, featured some of the finest folk, acoustic, and Americana singer-songwriter acts in the Rhode Island area, playing on three music stages. The event also welcomed food trucks and craft vendors while practicing social distancing guidelines still suggested due to the pandemic.

This summer, the “Band Shell Stage” and the “Songbird Stage” saw the addition of a third performance space, the “Emerging Artists Stage.” Based at the park gazebo, some of the region’s best up-and-coming singer-songwriters performed short sets.
