Newport Motor Car Festival is on Father’s Day

The Portsmouth/Tiverton Rotary Club will present the 67th annual Newport Motor Car Festival on Sunday, Father’s Day, with an extensive lineup of classic and modern vehicles, a vendor area, a variety of food trucks, a Blessing of the Cars by Father Edwards at noon, and music provided by Cruisin’ Bruce Palmer.

WHAT: 67th annual Newport Motor Car Festival

WHEN: Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Portsmouth Abbey School, 285 Cory’s Lane (Route 114), Portsmouth

COST: Show car registration is $25, opening at 7 a.m. Peer judging from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Guest parking at the Portsmouth Abbey Ice Rink for a suggested $5 donation per vehicle.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
