PORTSMOUTH — Two men were arrested on the morning of Monday, July 31, after getting into a fight aboard a boat off Dyer Island, according to police.
Shortly after 9 a.m., an officer responded to a report of an assault that had taken place on the boat, and ended up arresting the two men on Burma Road.
Robert Tyson Frechette, 50, of 3 Harris Ave., Warren, and William R. McKee, 68, of 45 Highland Ave., Portsmouth, were both charged with simple assault or battery.
According to police, McKee had pushed Frechette down under the water and struck his forehand during a struggle over the placement of buoys. Frechette had struck the victim’s chest during the altercation, police said.
Dyer Island, which is part of Portsmouth, lies in Narragansett Bay off the west coast of Aquidneck Island.

Tuesday, Aug. 1
Patrick W. Jamison, 39, of 56 Nanaquaket Road, Tiverton, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense; and resisting arrest. Officers pulled Jamison over on Route 24 North at the Tiverton exit around 1:20 a.m. after observing his vehicle drift into the oncoming lane and traveling at about 80 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to police. Jamison refused to exit his vehicle and resisted arrest, police said. He was also cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Edward Eugene Kettner, 40, of 18 Market Square, Newport, was charged with DUI, first offense; obstructing an officer in execution of duty; and resisting arrest. The arrest came after police received a call of a man sitting in the center span of the Mt. Hope Bridge. Kettner, who was on a bicycle, was later identified as that man, according to police. He refused to identify himself, provided officers with a false name and “displayed signs of extreme alcohol intoxication,” according to police. Kettner, who told officers had had consumed several alcoholic beverages, became disorderly, belligerent and resisted arrest at the scene, according to police.
Saturday, Aug. 5
Adiel Tomaz Silva, 61, of 162 Prospect St., Shrewsbury, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense, after being stopped for erratic driving on East Main Road at Linden Lane around 8:15 p.m., police said. Tomaz was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Louis Stanzione, 58, of 7 Wheeler Ave., Bristol, was charged with DUI, first offense; reckless driving; and leaving the scene of an accident with damage resulting to an attended vehicle. Police received a report of a hit-and-run accident on the Mt. Hope Bridge involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle shortly after 8 p.m. Officers located the truck, driven by Stanzione, and placed him under arrest on Shoreline Terrace after observing him exhibit “signs of extreme alcohol intoxication,” police said. Stanzione was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, his second offense, according to police.
Sunday, Aug. 6
Rebecca Rain White, 51, of 4850 West 51st St., Apt. 5205, Bradenton, Fla., was charged with DUI, first offense, after nearly striking a police cruiser that had been blocking off traffic in the northbound lane of East Main Road as a telephone was being replaced, according to police. (The downed pole was a result of a serious accident involving a logging truck and three cars the previous afternoon.) White’s vehicle, which was traveling northbound, was pulled over at Lepes Road around 2:25 a.m. She was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Robert Edward Stackhouse, 52, of 11 Scotty Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct (offensive words at another), after officers responded to his home around 1:10 p.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance between neighbors, police said.
Monday, Aug. 7
Meghan R. Brennan, 40, of 60 Washington St., Apt. 6, Bristol, was charged with DUI, first offense, after officers observed her vehicle drifting into the oncoming lane as it approached the Mt. Hope Bridge shortly before 12:30 a.m., police said. Officers clocked her vehicle as traveling around 54 mph in a 30 mph zone over the bridge, and pulled her over on the Bristol side, police said. She was also cited for refusing a chemical test.
