Tiverton ace Kam Rego struck out 11 as the baseball team pounded Pawtucket 8-2 during a home game on Thursday afternoon. The win evened the Tigers record to 7-7 in Division 3.
Rego, a senior, gave up just 3 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs in a complete game performance.
“Kam’s pitching was outstanding,” said Tigers head coach Matt McGuire. “He competed all afternoon and finished really strong.  He has been our horse all season.”
The Tigers’ offense pounded Pawtucket pitching for 7 hits and 8 runs. Kyle Rogers led the team with 3 hits, 3 RBI and a run scored. Rego, Noah Mercer and James Conley all drove in runs for the Tigers.
“Kyle, Kam and Noah along with Nate Tavares have provided the majority of our offense all season,” said Coach McGuire. “They were able to get it going early which really helped.”
Rego bashed two hits including a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the first inning that started a 3-run rally. The pitcher also scored two runs. Mercer had a pair of hits and scored 3 runs. Tavares walked and scored 2 runs.
Tiverton scored 3 runs in the first inning, 2 in the third and 3 more in the fourth. Pawtucket scored their 2 runs in the fifth inning.
