Tiverton police logs: Firearm reported stolen out of car

Monday, August 23

Police got a call about a restraining order violation on Ledoux Lane, but later noted that no violation had occurred.

A Bay Street woman called police after she received calls from someone claiming that there was a warrant for her arrest. Police deemed it a scam.

Police received a call regarding counterfeit bills from Crandall Road.

A Tiverton woman was taken to St. Anne's Hospital after a dog bit her on the hand and leg.

A Campion Avenue resident reported being threatened by a man from Arizona.

A resident on Brayton Road called police with concerns about a possible no contact order violation.

Tuesday, August 24

Police were called to the Riptide Sports Grill at 1 Bay St. at 1:33 a.m., for a report of a possible hit and run victim laying on the ground and moaning. Police arrived and noted that the man was breathing, and he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Meanwhile, police surveyed the scene and saw debris in the roadway indicating that the car involved might have been a maroon Toyota with likely front end damage. They notified Fall River police and were expected to review camera footage from the Riptide, in hopes of further identifying the vehicle involved.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino Hotel for a trespassing offense.

Alexander Hartnett, 33, of Tiverton, was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to Lawton Avenue at 5:56 p.m. for a report of two men verbally fighting.

Police got a report that a white SUV. had driven onto Fogland Beach. The report was deemed unfounded.

Police checked on a beach fire called in at Fogland Beach just after 8 p.m. Police noted that the fire was extinguished.

Michael J. Iamele, 42, of Tiverton, was charged with criminal violation of a no contact order.

Wednesday, August 25

David C. Smith, 38, of New Bedford, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, after police pulled him over on Tiverton Casino Boulevard at 1:03 a.m.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino Hotel at 1:51 a.m. to assist with an unruly patron.

Gerald Thorpe, 66, of Fall River, was arrested on a Rhode Island Superior Court bench warrant following a traffic stop on Main Road at 9:30 a.m.

A car break-in was reported on Cliff Street.

Police were called to a convenience store on Stafford Road for a misunderstanding over a payment for gas.

A Holly Circle woman reported possible unemployment fraud.

Police were called to Crandall Road just after 6 p.m. for a report of people fighting.

Carl Destremps, 52, of Tiverton, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, BAC unknown, first offense, after police were called to East Road at 6:12 p.m. for a report of a car that had hit a utility pole, snapping it at the base.

A landlord-tenant issue drew police to Hooper Street at 6:15 p.m.

Possible gunshots were reported on Thibault Lane, but nothing was showing when police arrived.

Thursday, August 26

A caller told police that a dog on Bluff Avenue had been outside with no water for more than six hours. Police spoke to the owner and noted that dogs on the property were safe, and their living conditions adequate.

A Roseland Drive woman reported being scammed.

Friday, August 27

Ashley M. Furtado, 26, of Fall River, was charged with domestic simple assault and/or battery, and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called to Main Road at 1:12 a.m. by a man who said his ex-girlfriend had assaulted him.

A Crandall Road resident called police to report that a firearm and magazine had been stolen out of a parked car.

A caller complained about trucks speeding up and down Canonicus Street.

A Hudson Street woman reported being the subject of harassment and threats.

Cody R. Frazier, 27, of Tiverton, was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to a Main Road establishment just before 9 p.m., for a disturbance.

Louis N. Rebello, 25, of Swansea, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, BAC .1 to .15, first offense, and possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, after police pulled him over on Tiverton Casino Boulevard at 11:42 p.m.

Saturday, August 28

Police got a call at 12:07 a.m. that a car was traveling at approximately 30 miles per hour on Route 24.

A Hudson Street resident reported receiving harassing and threatening phone calls.

An Oregon Avenue woman complained about fireworks at 7:57 p.m. Police spoke to a nearby neighbor who agreed to shut it down for the night.

Sunday, August 29

A caller complained about a white Chevy with a loud radio on Walnut Street at 12:45 a.m.

Police spoke to Canonicus Street told police they'd head inside for the night after police received a loud music complaint at 2:49 a.m.

A Canonicus Street resident reported being harassed by a neighbor.

Police got a call that a TV had fallen out of a car on Bulgarmarsh Road.

A Neck Road woman called and told police she wanted to make a complaint about a plane flying over her home.

A caller told police that a man who might be drunk was walking in and out of traffic on Main Road. Police checked it out; it was just a resident exercising, they noted.

A car struck a deer on Main Road. The deer ran into the woods afterward.

A Canonicus Street woman complained about continual harassment.

A caller told police that a Schooners game at Tiverton Middle School was getting rowdy, and the caller wanted to make sure nothing happened after the game.

Monday, August 30

A caller from Lawton Avenue complained at 3:19 a.m. that his neighbor was jumping up and down and making loud banging noises.

A Clement Street man reported receiving harassing phone calls and texts from an ex.
