Maria E. Carvalho, 80, of Bristol passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Antonio Vitorino and Conciecao De Jesus (Barbosa) Carvalho, Maria grew up in Sao Miguel, Azores before coming to the United States and settling in Rhode Island in 1969, where she spent the rest of her life.
Maria worked as a seamstress for many years and loved to sew and crochet in her spare time. She loved spending time with her family, especially around the holidays, and found great joy in cooking for everyone. Maria enjoyed the simple things in life, and would often enjoy being at home so that she could entertain any of her many frequent visitors. She loved to laugh and was always known to be such a fun person to be with.
Maria is survived by her children, Octavio Medeiros and his wife Janet of Warren, Hilda Lima and her husband Jaime of Bristol, Martin Medeiros of Somerset, Mass., and Kevin Souza of Warren; her grandchildren, Stacey Lima, Brittany Lima, Cory Souza, Ricky Souza, Jade Viera, Samantha Medeiros-Bethune, Diana Medeiros, Cindy Medeiros, Christopher Medeiros and Bruce Medeiros; her great-grandchildren, Kayden, Ryder, Aiden, Arianna and Sophie; her sister, Conciecao Ferreira; her brothers, John Vitorino and Louie Vitorino, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 7pm. For tributes, visit www.wjsmithfh.com .
