Mt. Hope High gymnasts earn season-best team total

The Mt. Hope High gymnastics team wrapped up the home portion of its 2024-25 schedule by hosting a state meet qualifier with Portsmouth and Barrington Sunday, Feb. 2, at at Strive Gymnastics in Somerset when the Huskies honor their seniors Maxine Scott and Madeleine St. Pierre.

Though the meet did not count in the team rankings, Mt. Hope managed a season-best score of 132.675.

The locals were led again by sophomore star Kara Pisasale, who was tops all-around with a 35.5 total off scores of 9.05 on vault, 8.6 on bars, 8.65 on beam and 9.2 on floor. Her vault and floor were the day's best scores as well.

Freshman Charlotte Piper also competed all-around, finishing with a 33.25 total and event best of 8.85 on beam. Piper received an 8.55 on vault, a 7.15 on bars and an 8.7 on floor.

Classmates Madeline Rozea and Reese Rybak also vied all-around, the latter earning a 31.575 and the latter a 28.4. Both received best scores on vault, Rozea an 8.375 and Rybak an 8.35. As well, Evalina Minnella had three contributing scores with an 8.45 on vault, a 7.7 on bars and an 8.35 on floor. In addition, St. Pierre's 8.1 on floor was a counting score.

The Huskies conclude the team component of their season Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Newport YMCA with Portsmouth, Barrington and the Warwick co-op.
